How long does food last

Obviously, fresher is better.  But most of us can’t go to the Farmer’s Market every day, so it’s important to know how long foods will keep — and the best ways to store them.

Enter Still Tasty, a cool, informative, and to-the-point website all about food storage and shelf-life.  You can use the search tool if you have questions about specific foods, or just poke around in their Q&A articles.

Some things I learned in just a few minutes:

Yes, you can safely store Ketchup and Mustard for a loooong time in the fridge.  (After about 6 to 12 months, however, it may not taste as good.)

Their secrets to keeping fruit luscious.

Soy Sauce does indeed keep best in the fridge.

The Tofu we ate last night was a few days too many past the “sell by” date (but we’re feeling fine today, so I think we’re in the clear…).
